The new Sharjah Best Security Standards Award was launched as part of the Sharjah Excellence Award categories at the “Economic Sustainability Forum,” held on February 25th, 2020, for Security Standards, in partnership with the Sharjah Police General Directorate, aimed at implementing security safety standards in the Emirate of Sharjah for large and small and medium enterprises. Registration is open for all companies operating in all economic sectors in the Emirate of Sharjah to stress the implementation of security requirements, maintain economic institutions’ sustainability and boost trust between government and private organizations.
Enhancing Security Measures 20%: Reviewing all laws, policies, regulations and practices, whether administrative or technical, followed at the organization to enhance its internal security and to reflect positively on the community by improving safety levels for e.g.utilizing an innovative monitoring system, developing security plans, and using artificial intelligence tools, etc.
Enhancing Comprehensive Risk Management 15%: Commitmentof the organization to safety and civil life systems aligned with local and federal systemsorto international bestpractices that exceed local requirements and enhance security and safety withinthe organization, and the application of administrative systems to mitigate risks and develop scenarios of global specifications such asapplying the Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority system, the Business Continuity system, and the Occupational Health and Safety specifications.
Ensuring Compliance with Laws regulating the Stakeholders 15%: Commitment of the organization to implementing the laws, regulations and decisions regulating the residency affairs of the organization’s employees, for e.g. renewing residency permits on time, and not employing violators of the residency law.
Enhancing Innovation in Business Models 15%: The organizationadopts an innovative and pioneering model to ensure its continuity in the business market and strengthen its strategic partnerships in a way that contributes positively to supporting the emirate’s economy, enhancing its market value, and highlighting its sustainable growth that is in line with government directives.
Enhancing Economic Governance 15%: The organization has a framework to govern its operations and ensure adherence and compliance with laws and regulations to enhance transparency and accountability, in accordance with local and federal requirements in the country, such as tax systems, financial transactions documentation systems, accuracy of records, and updating administrative systems in accordance with changes.
Enhancing Environmental Sustainability 10%: The organization adopts sustainable practices aimed at preserving the environment and reducing the negative impacts resulting from operational activities,such practices as “system for managing natural resources, reducing the carbon footprint, waste management, adherence to international environmental standards, etc.”
Enhancing Social Responsibility 10%: The organization adopts a clear approach to social responsibility and aims to enhance community development by implementing economic and social development projects, programs and services in the country.
